I can’t believe that for the majority of the kids the football season is already coming to a close. We are so proud of how well all the kids have done this past year! We wanted to take a moment and get everyone up to speed on what we will be doing for the next few months now that the season is done for some of the kids.
First off there will no more in-season workouts for the 7th & 8th graders that have been coming on Tuesdays & Thursdays. We want to make sure all the kids have a couple of weeks to rest and let any bumps and bruises heal up before we start our testing for the upcoming offseason. Below is the schedule for everyone except the varsity kids.
November 18th, 19th, 20th – We will be testing and assessing all kids who are planning to be in the program. I’ll be sending out a schedule of events to everyone, as well as putting the schedule our website this week. It is important for everyone to make these testing days. This will help us place kids in the appropriate groups of strength and skill.
November 21st – 27th – There will be no workouts this week other than to eat as much as you can at Thanksgiving.
November 28th – December 17th – We will be running a preparatory phase consisting of 2 strength workouts and 1 field workout each week. These workouts will be used to introduce or reintroduce strength, speed, and conditioning back to the kids. For our current 7th graders and older we will be stepping up the intensity a little so we want to make sure everyone is ready to go once the holidays are over.
December 18th – December 26th – No workouts
December 27th – December 31st – Final week of preparatory workouts
January 2nd – Next Fall – We get better every day!!
Once we get to January we will be offering additional workouts to add a little more specificity. You will have the options of adding extra speed days as well as some extra prehab and flexibility work for the kids that need to extra work on their flexibility. Please look for an email later this week with details on the areas that will be tested and what days to expect the workouts. We are also making a few small adjustments to training fees that we hope will make that process easier on everyone. I’ll include those changes with the testing schedule email.
